The removal of a tooth from its socket in the bone.
Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from the dental alveolus (socket) in the alveolar bone. Extractions are performed for many reasons including severe tooth decay, periodontal disease, impacted wisdom teeth, overcrowding, or preparation for orthodontic treatment. The procedure can be simple or surgical depending on the tooth's condition.
