What is Dentin?

The layer of the tooth beneath the enamel that forms the bulk of the tooth structure.
Dentin is the calcified tissue that forms the main body of the tooth, lying beneath the enamel and surrounding the pulp. It's softer than enamel but harder than bone, and contains microscopic tubes that can transmit sensations. Dentin continues to form throughout life.
